Discover Bolivia: One of the World's Greatest Birding Destinations

Bolivia is one of the world's 15 megadiverse countries and ranks sixth globally in bird diversity, with nearly 1,500 recorded species. Its extraordinary variety of habitats ranges from snow-capped Andean peaks above 6,500 meters to the wetlands, tropical forests, and savannas of the Amazon and Pantanal lowlands at just 100 meters above sea level. Between these extremes lie the cloud forests of the Yungas, the rainforests of the Tropical Andes, and the vast dry forests of the Gran Chaco.

Home to 12 ecoregions and more than 20,000 plant species, Bolivia still preserves immense wilderness areas thanks to its low population density. Many of its national parks remain remarkably intact, offering exceptional opportunities for birdwatching and wildlife observation in authentic, uncrowded settings.

Despite this natural wealth, Bolivia faces increasing threats from forest fires, deforestation, and agricultural expansion. Sustainable activities such as birding tourism can play a key role in conserving forests, wetlands, and grasslands while supporting local communities.

Every tour you book helps support conservation. A portion of our revenue is invested in environmental education programs and the Bolivian Bird Fair, which promotes bird conservation, birdwatching, and sustainable livelihoods.

At Bolivia Birding Expeditions, we invite you to discover one of South America's last great wilderness destinations while helping preserve it for future generations.
